Mr. Akinwumi Godson Fanimokun

Mr Akinwumi Godson Fanimokun FCIB is a strategic boardroom leader with over 35 years of experience in driving strategic change and demonstrating exceptional leadership across various sectors.
Before joining NAHCO board, Fanimokun served with First Bank of Nigeria, holding key positions such as Manager (Banking) at First Bank of Nigeria, UK and Group Head, Public Sector, Abuja. He also served as Managing Director and CEO of First Pension Custodian. Thereafter he served as the Group Executive Technology and Services, First Bank of Nigeria until his retirement in 2015.
Mr Fanimokun served on the Board of First Bank of Nigeria from 2023 to May 2025.
During his highly productive period in the banking sector, he was actively involved in the Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria, where he served on the Executive Committee (Lagos Branch) from 2008 to 2011 and chaired the Bankers’ Night Committee from 2009 t0 2011. His dedication to the success of the institute earned him the recognition as a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of Ife, Ile Ife. ( Now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Osun State) and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Henley Management College, United Kingdom.
As a life learner, he continuously participates in professional trainings at prestigious institutions. Havard Business School (2000 and 2009), Chicago Booth Business School (2008), and London Business School, UK (2010); IESE Spain (2023); NorthWestern |Kellogg. (2024).
Most recently, he attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business for Director’s Consortium -Public in October 2025.
Mr Fanimokun is happily married to his wife, Abiola; they are blessed with children and grandchildren.
