Abdulraheem Olabode Salami, simply known as Bode, is a highly accomplished Regional Health, Safety & Environment Leader with an impressive 28 years of experience as an HSE practitioner. His career spans diverse sectors within the oil and gas industry, including exploration, production, logistics, marine, construction, energy, and drilling. Olabode demonstrates a proactive, passionate, and productive approach to his work and maintains a commitment to continual learning and embracing diverse challenges. Mr. Salami is dedicated to ongoing professional improvement and finesse. His educational background includes a Master of Science degree in Safety and Risk Management from the University of Strathclyde, UK, which he earned in 2016. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Humanities, with a focus on Linguistics, from the University of Port Harcourt, obtained in 1994.
His commitment to professional development is further evidenced by his impressive list of certifications. He is a certified ISO 45001: 2018 Lead Auditor and holds the NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety Management, as well as the NEBOSH Oil and Gas Technical Safety Operations Certificate. He is also a member of the American Society of Safety Professionals and the International Institute of Risk and Safety Management. Additionally, he is certified as an OHSAS 18001:2007/2015 Lead Auditor and an International Lean Six Sigma Black Belter. Salami’s extensive work experience demonstrates a consistent progression of leadership and responsibility within the HSE field.
He was the Africa Regional EHS Leader at GE HealthCare International based in Nigeria, a role he assumed on July 1, 2024. He was also the Regional EHS Leader for Sub Saharan Africa at the same company. He held the position of Regional QHSE Head for Sub Sahara/Israel & EMEA Special Projects and Regional QHSE Head for the Middle East and Africa at Swissport International, Kenya. His experience also includes roles as Regional EHS Manager for Sub Saharan Africa, for Africa, and for West Africa at Granite Services International (a General Electric Company).
Earlier in his career, he served as an HSE Adviser at Shell Petroleum Development Company Nigeria and held various HSE-related positions at Indomarine Nigeria Limited, Sego Oilfield Services Limited, Intels Nigeria Limited, Parker Drilling Nigeria Limited, and Ifara Development Company Nigeria Limited. He began his professional journey with a Safety/Admin Officer role at Union Commercial & Industrial Company Limited and a General Helper position at Sodexho Catering Services Nigeria Limited.
Beyond his professional achievements, Salami is actively involved in volunteering programs. He served as a Boys & Seamanship Scouts Leader, a Pre- Marital/Marriage Counsellor at The Carpenters Ministries Skills Development Coach/Mentor, also with TCM. In his leisure time, Salami enjoys reading, sailing, swimming and indoor games.
