Dankode gets Cash, Double Promotion and Appointment as Brand Ambassador

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nahco aviance) has rewarded a staff of the Company, Mr. Auwal Dankode, who found and returned the sum of ten thousand United States dollars ($10,000) while cleaning an aircraft in Kano.

Dankode, who was assigned alongside other colleagues, to clean the MS 878 operated by Egypt Air, found the money left behind by the passenger on seat no 25H. He promptly turned the money over to the Airline’s Station Manager.

The Group Managing Director/CEO of the Company, Mr. Indranil Gupta, while commending Dankode for being a true NAHCO ambassador who has put into use the training he received in the Company, announced the handsome cash reward, instant promotion and appointment as NAHCO Brand Ambassador.

Mr. Gupta, who led the Management Team in appreciating the staff at the Head Office of the Company in Lagos on Friday said, “We are truly proud of the exemplary character exhibited by Auwal. He is a true NAHCO ambassador and an embodiment of what NAHCO stands for, honesty, integrity, diligence and hard work.”

Continuing, the GMD stated, “We celebrate your being and we want this to be just the beginning. Let the values which has been instilled by your family, guide you and groom you into ideal leader which everyone will be proud of.”

The CEO pointed out that the majority of NAHCO staff exhibit these values in their everyday work in the Company.

“We urge you to continue working the same with very high integrity, diligently and continue being a good NAHCO ambassador,” Mr. Gupta said.

Also speaking at the occasion, the Chief Financial Officer of NAHCO, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju, commended Dankode on this show of high integrity. “The integrity you’ve displayed is not something that anyone can pretend to have. You’ve shown that it is something that is innate to you,” Emiloju pointed out.

The COO, Mr. Didier Steullet also encouraged Dankode to stay on the good path.

Steullet advised: “What you have done is very good. You’re the example not only of the week, but probably of the year. My only recommendation is that please keep going on the same way. Remain yourself and don’t get carried away with the adulation that you are receiving on social media. You need to make remain grounded and make a difference in the world. Stay on nice side of the ‘force’ and your life will be good.”

Group Executive Director, Dr. Sola Obabori added, “You’ve become a poster boy of NAHCO not only in Nigeria but all over the world because the internet makes things global. You have done something that makes us proud. In a today’s Nigeria, where the value of dollar is so very high, by returning so many of them, you’ve done something commendable. For you to have seen something as valuable, and give it up, it shows that you’re a man who has purity of heart. This is very commendable and appreciated. Every well-meaning Nigerian will appreciate what you have done.”

Auwal expressed his great appreciation of the Management of NAHCO for giving him the opportunity to break out from his village setting where no one has ever worked in an airport or stand close to an aircraft.

“No one in my area has ever worked at the airport. I am very grateful to NAHCO for the training they gave us and also for the opportunity to work and earn a decent living. I am greatly thankful of the NAHCO Management for the honour and recognition of my effort” he stated.

Dankode invited some of his relations to the ceremony including, Jafar Maimako, Sadam Tanko, Ibrahim Mu’azu and Yusuf Mohammed.

As brand ambassador, Auwal Dankode would grace all NAHCO major events anywhere in the country, promote its brand and have the chance to travel and interact with top officials and stakeholders of the Company.

  • Sign 5 – year Contracts with Leading Ground handling Service Provider

The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nahco aviance), West Africa’s largest ground handling service provider, has again emerged the preferred handler for two of world’s leading airlines, Lufthansa and Royal Air Maroc.

Riding on the back of exceptional service delivery by the Company, the two airlines have respectively signed contracts with NAHCO for the next five years in each case.

The contract with Lufthansa, a leading European carrier, will run from May 01, 2024, through April 30, 2029.

The contract with Royal Air Maroc is a comprehensive one; for both Lagos and Abuja destinations. The Royal Air Maroc – LOS will run for five years from May 01, 2024, through April 30, 2029. For the Abuja contract, a new location for the Airline, the contract runs from May 01, 2024, through April 30, 2029 as well.

Group Executive Director, Commercial and Business Development, NAHCO Plc, Prince Saheed Lasisi, said the new contracts were coming at a time when NAHCO is massively increasing its capacity with the recent purchase of new Ground Support Equipment.

“Lufthansa and Royal Air Maroc have made the right decision in staying with NAHCO, evidently the largest handling provider in the country. We just took delivery of billions of naira worth of equipment which would be deployed to service these valued partners. It is a thrilling development,” Prince Lasisi said in Lagos.

The Group Managing Director/CEO, NAHCO Plc, Mr. Indranil Gupta, expressed his delight with the new contracts affirming that it is great partnerships at work. While assuring the airlines of exceptional service delivery, Gupta said, “We are always happy to serve clients who depend on us to further grow their businesses. We will always go the extra mile to ensure that we support them to keep their promises to their clients to offer the best service.”

The NAHCO CEO pointed out that the Company is doing a lot in the area of manpower development and equipment purchase in order to be able to give incomparable service.

Only recently, the Company announced the deployment of several equipment recently purchased to some of its stations. The deployed equipment comprised several units of pushbacks, Ground Power Units, Aircraft Cooling Units, Aircraft Air Start Units, tractors, reach trucks, forklifts, cargo and baggage carts, and pallet dollies.

According to the Company, the deployment would be the first in a series of massive equipment replacement embarked upon by the Company which has set for itself an ambitious target of excess GSE in two years.

West Africa’s largest ground handling service provider, NAHCO Plc, has announced the appointment of two non-executive directors into its board. The new directors are Mr. Abdulhamid Aliyu and Revd. Victor Abimbola Olaiya.

In a notice to the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NGX) signed by the Company Secretary, Mr. Bello A. Abdullahi, the Company said the appointment followed the retirement of three members of the Board: Engr. Mohammed Gambo Umar, FNSE, mni (Non-Executive Director), Sir Sunday Nnamdi Nwosu, KSS (Independent Non-Executive Director), and Engr. Solagbade Olukayode Alabi (Non-Executive Director). Their retirement from the board is effective from December 31, 2023.

According to the notice, Aliyu is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Specialist (UK) as well as a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants. He is a Certified Management Consultant and a Certified Management Specialist by the London Graduate School who holds a Doctor of Business Administration in Oil and Gas (Honoris Causa).

Born in 1963, Aliyu was awarded a BSc degree in Economics from the University of Maiduguri (1987) and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. He is also a Dealing Clerk of the Nigerian Exchange, a Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).

A man of many parts, his career journey began as an Investment Officer at the Nigerian Agricultural & Cooperative Bank in 1988. He has over the years held various significant positions, including as General Manager at Fairholme Investment (Nig.) Limited, Special Assistant to the Minister of Petroleum Resources and Managing Director of NNPC Oilfield Services Limited in 2023.

Revd. Olaiya, born in 1956, was awarded an Ordinary National Diploma (OND) in Mechanical Engineering by the Yaba College of Technology in 1977 and a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Ife in 1981. He obtained a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Lagos in 1988.

Olaiya is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Nigeria Society of Engineers (NSE) and Nigerian Institute of Management NIM). He also trained at the Baptist College of Theology, Lagos, obtaining a Bachelor of Theology degree.

His extensive three-decade career in the Oil & Gas industry includes in roles such as Facilities Engineer, Drilling Engineering and Operations, and General Manager, Venture Relations Department of the Upstream Affiliates of ExxonMobil.

In addition to his corporate achievements, Olaiya served as the Chairman of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) Lagos Section 61 in 1988 and retired as the pastor of New Insight Baptist Church, Ogudu, Lagos, in October 2021, after nearly seven years of service.

The statement by NAHCO further disclosed that the process of appointing a replacement for the retired Independent Non-Executive Director is currently underway.

    As Company hands over new Vehicles for Operations.

    West Africa’s foremost ground handling service provider, nacho aviance, is injecting fresh billions into equipment purchase, its Chairman, Dr. Seinde Fadeni disclosed on Monday.

    Fadeni who spoke during the hand-over ceremony of 21 new vehicles recently purchased to staff promised that the ground support equipment would be delivered in a few months’ time.

    “The scale of the GSE the Company is purchasing is so massive that what you have here in the terms of these operations vehicles is very small by comparison.”

    He noted that Company officials have left no stone unturned in sourcing for the right equipment from the right sources even in the face of excruciating forex challenges.

    Although NAHCO’s equipment purchase is 95% dollar based, the Chairman said the Company is committed to providing workers with the right tools so as to continue to deliver excellent service.

    “We shall at all times be ready to provide the workforce with the right equipment to deliver exceptional service to our clients,” the Chairman stated.

    Fadeni extolled the staff for their diligence and commitment to the Company.

    In his remarks at the occasion, the Group Executive Director, International Business & Corporate Service, Dr. Sola Obabori implored the staff to put the vehicles to good use.

    While emphasizing that the Company will always provide the required working environment and tools for its workforce, Obabori urged users of the new vehicles to take ownership of the vehicles being handed over to them.

    The Assistant General Manager, GSE, Mr. Charles Karinga, acknowledged that the vehicles will go a long way in ameliorating the challenges staff face in the course of their work. He promised that adequate care would be taken of the new vehicles.

    Company officials at the handing over ceremony include the GED, Commercial & Business Development, Prince Saheed Lasisi; Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Didier Roger Steullet; the Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Adeoye Emiloju and the General Manager, External Relations, Mr. Ahmed Bashir Gulmah.

    Also present at the event are the union leaders, including the Chairman, NUATE,  Prince Nnochiri; Secretary – General ATSSSAN, Henry Okon and Vice President II, ATSSSAN, Vera Egbukichi.
